Shaihong from Master Xiang. And not just any shaihong, but a smoked one. This tea is far from ordinary: 100-year-old tea trees from Ma Deng and a unique shaihong production technique combined with cold smoking using wild grapevine twigs.
After the “shaihong” sun fixation, Master Xiang begins the smoking process. She uses a special long horizontal trough for this. The top part of the trough is covered with a fine mesh, which is then layered with 5–7 cm of tea. At one end of the trough is a firebox, and at the other end is a chimney. In the firebox, dried grapevine twigs are placed on hot coals, producing smoke. The chimney draws this smoke through the trough. The tea rests above the smoke for several hours and gradually becomes smoked. Afterwards, before sorting and packaging, the tea is aired outdoors under a shelter for several days.
The aroma of the warmed leaves is complex; despite the dominant smoky-fruity notes, it unfolds with hints of prunes, almonds, and melted butter. The infusion is dense, rich, and balanced — sweet and velvety from the very first brew. Gradually, through the smoky veil, the flavor of the tea leaves becomes more and more pronounced. In the later infusions, this flavor boldly dominates, revealing its unique terroir. The powerful and dynamic aftertaste surprises with its vivid variety from infusion to infusion but always delivers a long, sweet, and moisturizing finish.
This tea brings a festive feeling, both in taste and sensation, filling you with warm joy and a zest for life
Master Xiang earned two degrees and dedicated her life to reviving traditional techniques, settling in a remote mountainous region of Yunnan. Talented and attentive, Xiang is very meticulous when selecting tea raw materials. She is not afraid to experiment and inspires us every year with new fantastic teas.
