Master Xiang selected the 2022 shu maocha from 100–150-year-old tea trees growing in a garden near the settlement of Maidi on Ailao Mountain. The maocha (unpressed sheng puerh) was moistened and placed in large boxes for post-fermentation (wodui), which lasts about 2 months. The master continuously monitors the temperature and humidity in the boxes, maintaining the fermentation process at the required level. After wodui, the tea is dried, sorted, and pressed if necessary.
Sweet and fruity. The aroma of the warmed leaves includes warm custard, nuts, marzipan, and coffee. The first infusions are creamy and sweet, with notes of crème brûlée, Napoleon pastry, cinnamon, and fruit tree bark. Later, coffee tones and dark chocolate emerge. The infusion gradually mineralizes.
The long and playful aftertaste unfolds with various sensations and nuances throughout the mouth and throat — from dessert-like vanilla to a lingering nuttiness.
Cha Qi is warm and strong. After the very first cups, it wraps your entire body and mind in a silky blanket.
Master Xiang earned two degrees and dedicated her life to reviving traditional techniques, settling in a remote mountainous region of Yunnan. Talented and attentive, Xiang is very meticulous when selecting tea raw materials. She is not afraid to experiment and inspires us every year with new fantastic teas.
