An antique porcelain tea cup. Crafted at one of the small local workshops in Jingdezhen in the mid-19th century (Qing Dynasty, 1636–1912). Such small porcelain workshops were widespread throughout the region at that time. This was a distinct cultural phenomenon later known as “Domestic Kilns.” They specialized in artisanal production of everyday tableware sold in small shops. The wares were handmade quickly and inexpensively, without strict quality control, which gave each piece a unique individuality.
