Another masterpiece by Master Cai, made according to the classic 1939 Dianhong recipe. For this red tea, he used the first spring March buds from 60-year-old tea bushes in the mountainous region of Feng Qing. These buds are exceptionally rich in essential oils, vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial micronutrients. To preserve these qualities, the master employed a special technique of rolling the buds into spherical shapes.
Thanks to this special shape, this tea has become known in China as “Golden Snails.”
The aroma of the warmed leaves reveals notes of chocolate, carob, oak barrel, hazelnut, fig, dates, raisins, and honey. The infusion is rich, mineral, and dense. With each infusion, the tea unfolds a chocolatey-woody sweetness and fragrance.
In the powerful aftertaste, light bitter notes (Ku Wei) transition into a noble sweetness (Gan) on the palate. A pleasant cognac-like astringency is accompanied by active moisture (Sheng Jin).
All sensations are very harmonious and balanced. Cha Qi is highly motivating and warming, like the spring sun.
