Mengku is a small mountainous town that gave its name to one of the most famous puerh production areas. The town is nestled between two mountain slopes, one of which often shows snow due to its altitude exceeding 3200 meters. On the western slope lies the settlement of Dun Ban Shan, where Master Yin’s family resides. They are members of the Lahu ethnic minority, who have lived in this area for generations and have traditionally engaged in tea cultivation.
The raw material for this sheng was harvested in the gardens around the settlement in March 2023, from small tea trees aged 80–150 years. The traditional production techniques of the Lahu people best convey the terroir of the local raw material.
