Description
Master Yuan chose a special variety of trees for this shen , which has darker leaves than the Da Ye Jun variety typical of Yunnan. These ancient tea trees grow at an altitude of about 2600 meters and are more than 200 years old : 1-1.2 meters at the base. This shen cannot be called extremely fragrant, all its power is concentrated in the taste and Cha Qi it gives.
Organoleptics
A bright flavor opening: tobacco, fragrant peppercorn, and bitter almond, transitioning into sheng sweetness. The infusion is dense and slightly darker than typical for a young sheng — due to the natural color of the leaves of this cultivar. The flavor and aftertaste gradually gain strength: muscat grape, hop bitterness, raisin sweetness, cashew, caramel, and grapefruit. The aging potential is enormous.
State
From the very first infusions, this sheng warms from within, stimulates the bloodflow, drawing you into its strange world. Then it sharpens the mind, filling it with pure energy.
