The settlement of Qianjiazhai is located on Ailao Mountain, surrounded by moist evergreen broadleaf forests that spread across an ecologically pristine protected area at an altitude above 2000 meters above sea level. Here, in the Zhen Yuan Nature Reserve, lies the largest natural zone of wild tea tree growth in the world. Among them grows the oldest known tea tree, which has been thriving for 2700 years.
Master Xiang selected ancient tea trees aged around 300 years, a typical large-leaf Da Ye Zhong variety for this area, growing at an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level, for this sheng puerh. As always, she used exclusively manual techniques at every stage of production, revealing the full essence of the unique local terroir.
The warmed leaves impress with their aromatic umami: marmalade and ripe kishmish grapes. The infusions are soft and sweet at first, gradually acquiring complex fruity flavors that shift from ripe pear to smoked prune with hints of dried mushrooms. Noble salty minerality gradually intensifies. In the empty cup, aromas of vanilla, incense, sandalwood, and patchouli linger. The aftertaste is juicy and endless. It rewards with new tones every minute as you await the next infusion.
Cha Qi is warm and playful, typical for high-quality Qianjiazhai teas.
Master Xiang earned two degrees and dedicated her life to reviving traditional techniques, settling in a remote mountainous region of Yunnan. Talented and attentive, Xiang is very meticulous when selecting tea raw materials. She is not afraid to experiment and inspires us every year with new fantastic teas.
